Leadership 

Eric Cate

Pastor

Eric was born in Indonesia to missionary parents, but grew up in the Midwest (elementary and middle school) and Southern California (high school). He and Karen married in 1993 and have two grown children, Adi and Dawson.

Eric earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business and International Studies from Abilene Christian University in 1994 and holds a Masters in Theology from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2019). His interests include hiking or snowshoeing mountain trails, running, and engaging in mission work.

After nearly 21 years in business, Eric came to work at Currey Creek Church in Boerne, TX as its first business administrator in 2016. God used his business training and experience combined with his pastoral and missions heart to serve the church. He oversaw missions, administration, production, and served as a member of the executive team.  Currey Creek leadership sent Eric and Karen out to plant Bergheim Christian Fellowship.

Doug Johnson

Elder

Doug grew up in the San Antonio area. He and Kay, his wife of 54 years, were married in 1969 and have 2 children, Angie and Michelle, and 4 grandchildren, Shelton, Sophia, Hudson, and Sabrina, all residents of San Antonio. Doug earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1969. His interests include all things outdoors, hunting and fishing and teaching God’s Word at the Cordillera Men’s Bible Study which he has been doing for the past 20 years. Doug has been an Elder at Currey Creek Church in Boerne TX for a decade. He has served as Chairman of the Board for the Hill Country Pregnancy Care Center and is currently a Board Member, a position he has loved serving for the past 9 years. He has had a 42 year business career including Sales Management at AT&T and Vice President of Sales for Cross Telecom.

Joseph Soler

Elder

Joseph Soler was born in Cuba and legally emigrated to the United States at age 12.  He met his wife Mary at CSU, Long Beach. They have been married for over 43 years and have three adult children and five grandchildren. Joseph gave his heart to Jesus in 1981. Since then, he has had a passion for pursuing a relationship with the Lord and studying His Word. Using his gift of teaching to disciple others, Joseph served as Associate Teaching Director with Community Bible Study from 2002 – 2018 in Westlake Village, CA. He currently leads a couple’s home Bible study in his neighborhood in Bergheim. Joseph served as an Elder at Calvary Chapel Godspeak in Thousand Oaks, CA from 2014-2017and ministered as a part-time Associate Pastor for the Spanish Speaking portion of the congregation at Embrace Church in Oxnard, CA from 2017-2019.  Mary and Joseph currently serve as Board Members of “Gabriel’s House” - a Christian ministry that serves homeless women and children. He has worked in the biopharmaceutical industry in various capacities for more than 40 years and currently works for a small consulting firm. In his spare time, Joseph enjoys working out, playing pickleball, hunting, and travel.

Staff 

Shawn Harrild

Family Ministries Pastor

Shawn was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He and Alicia were married at their home church in 2006 and have two daughters, Ella and Zoey (both are native Texans!).
 
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History at California State University, East Bay (2009) and has a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2013). Shawn enjoys spending time with his family, playing games with students, reading, and is an avid fan of the cinema.
 
He has over 20 years experience working with students. Shawn comes to us with 10 years of classroom experience from the Geneva School of Boerne as a Humanities Instructor and Film Advisor. There, he fostered a loving and fun approach to teaching and training in righteousness while forming strong bonds with his students. Shawn and his family are among the original group that helped launch Bergheim Christian Fellowship.

Chelsea Gomez

Administrative and Connections Coordinator

Chelsea was born and raised in the San Antonio area. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in elementary education in 2008. Chelsea taught fourth and fifth grade for seven years at a few different public school districts in Texas. After that, she performed various administrative and supervisory roles for almost eight years for a company that provides support to transplant centers and patients. Her most recent role was quality manager. She has homeschooled her kids and taught various classes over the last eight years, as well. Chelsea is married and has 3 kids. She also likes to read, bake and spend time with her family.
